n celebration of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, Lake County launched the America 250 Independence Academy, a civic education program designed to help residents better understand how local government works and how the principles of the Declaration of Independence continue to shape the services provided to our communities today. Through presentations, tours and discussions with county leaders and staff, participants gained a behind-the-scenes look at the departments and services that support daily life in Lake County. Each session explored a different area of county government as participants toured specific departments to learn how their work connects to the founding principles expressed in the Declaration of Independence. The America 250 Independence Academy offered residents the opportunity to see firsthand how county government operates and how public service supports the well-being of Lake County communities.
